Songeeall Biotech, a premium mushroom-producing farm located at Ansung in Gyeonggi Province, is set on expanding its export. Unlike other companies, with its high-tech producing system, Songeeall Biotech is more like a semiconductor factory.
The size of the company is about 9917¡ that includes a floor area of 3305¡ and the farm consists of six floors. For the purpose of mass production, the company has secured an expanded site of a further 33, 058¡ . The production process consists of ten steps: making the culture medium, putting the mushrooms in bottles, sterilization, planting, cultivation, scratching, growing, development, harvesting, and sorting, and packing. It takes 55 days to complete the full producing process.
Mushrooms have been shipped since 2003 to the tune of 1.5 tons ( 10, 000 bottles of mushrooms) per day; this amounts to 500 tons per year. To keep the mushrooms fresh harvested mushrooms are shipped the same day. The company obtained organic and eco-product certification from the government and ‘ G Mark’ - the quality mark for food and agriculture authenticated by the governor of Gyeonggi Province. It has also to its credit acquired the ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 quality certificates from the International Organization for Standardization ( ISO) .
